What is the Difference Between Prejudice and Discrimination?
What is the Difference Between Prejudice and Discrimination? When I read you use the term prejudice, I was expecting you to tell me that prejudice is what we are all guilty of doing. The true definition of prejudice is 'prejudice held for personal advantage'. In other words, it is not what you think, but it is the actual actions that you take in your own words, and that includes yourself. You cannot stop another from acting a certain way, because he or she was born that way. When you say that someone is doing something you do not approve of, you are exercising your right to say so in your own words, even if you think what they are doing is wrong. The real difference between the two words is that one is, and the other is not. Prejudice is the act of acting unfairly and unjustly, while discrimination is the act of discriminating against others. These two terms, as defined above, are not the same thing.Discrimination is the act of discriminating against other people based on some trait th at they may have, rather than based on an unfair trait. In other words, discrimination is not treating somebody unfairly but merely being unfair to them. Discrimination is not treating someone unfairly based on something in their character, but merely being unfair to them. If you are discriminating against somebody in their company because they have blonde hair, then you are discriminating against them based on a trait that they have, not based on any unfair trait. Discrimination is not about what someone is, but it is about what they are not.So the next time you read those two words, know that you cannot stop another from discriminating against you based on your traits, because they were born that way. If somebody who were born differently to you, but whom you consider to be similar to you acts in your own words, then it is discrimination. No matter how much they might feel like they are being treated unfairly, it is still discrimination. You cannot control other people's actions, but you can control your own.It is also important to remember that words do not need to be accompanied by actions in order to be hurtful. If somebody says that another person is stupid, that does not make the other person stupid, even if the person saying that saying it in their own words. It is still discrimination, even if the words used were not accompanied by any actual action. When somebody uses their words to discriminate against you, whether they are claiming to be merely speaking their minds, or are actually using their words to discriminate against you, that is discrimination. You cannot control what another person says in their own words, but you can control your own words. Those who use words that are discriminatory against you can be discouraged from doing so, because they are discriminating against you based on their words. You are not being discriminated against based on anything in your character, but only on what you are, and that includes your physical characteristic s.When you write your opinions down on paper, or share them with people, but use words that are discriminatory in their meanings, then those words are meant to hurt you. If somebody uses words to discriminate against you, then those words were not in your own words, and therefore, those words are discriminatory.Disparate treatment is discrimination, whether it is done in the name of religion, race, color, sex, age, country of origin, handicap, or creed. In order to stop discrimination, we must not only focus on the fact that discrimination is wrong, but we must also focus on the fact that discrimination is not in your own words, and therefore, that you are being discriminated against. We must not only stop discrimination, but we must also begin to practice tolerance. tolerance, because true tolerance does not discriminate, but it accepts, regardless of beliefs and behavior.
